What is canthal tilt?
Canthal tilt is the angle of the line from the inner corner to the outer corner of the eye. If the outer corner sits higher, the tilt is positive; if it sits lower, it is negative.
03
Which canthal tilt is most attractive?
A slight positive tilt is often called attractive, but taste varies and many well-liked faces are neutral. In our test set, the faces made to look model-like averaged +9.1°, against +5.2° for the plainest ones.
04
Does canthal tilt change as you age?
It can. The outer corner of the eye often drops slowly as skin and tissue loosen with age, so tilt tends to become less positive over the years.
05
Can you get a positive canthal tilt?
Makeup such as winged eyeliner can make the eye look more lifted in photos. Changing the bone or eyelid shape is a medical question for a doctor, and this tool gives no medical advice.

FAQ
Is my photo stored?
No. The eye angles are measured on your device. The photo goes to the AI only for the face score and is dropped when the rating is done.
How accurate is the measurement?
It is measured from 478 points on your photo, so a straight-on, level photo matters most. Expect a difference of a degree or two between photos.
Does the score out of 10 use my canthal tilt?
Yes, a little. Tilt is one of four face measurements that make up 30% of the score; the AI rating makes up the other 70%.

About this page
Upload one photo to measure the tilt of each eye in degrees. You get the tilt of your left and right eye in degrees, and the average. Each result is labelled positive (+4° and up), neutral (0° to +4°) or negative (below 0°). The lines are drawn on your photo, on your own device. You also get an AI face score out of 10.
How we measured: We find 478 points on the face. We rotate the face so the line through both inner eye corners is level, then measure the angle from the inner to the outer corner of each eye.
Limits: Only 0 of the 16 AI-made faces had a negative tilt, so negative tilts are not well tested yet. A tilted head, a smile or a low camera can shift the angle by a few degrees.
